Separation Anxiety: What to Do If Your Child Cries When You Leave

Separation Anxiety: What to Do If Your Child Cries When You Leave

One of the hardest things for both a child and a parent is being separated. This is something that every parent goes through the first time they send off their little one to a preschool daycare in Van Buren, Arkansas. But is there a way to reduce separation anxiety and to make it easier for not only you but also your little one, when they go off to school?

Here are some tips for you to keep in mind, to help reduce or even prevent separation anxiety when you send your little one off to a childcare center in Arkansas:

  • Start Off Early
One of the best things you can do is to simply start early. Get your little one used to being away from you. This will not only help you but it will also help them a lot. A good way to do this is when they are still a baby. You can have other people hold them and talk to them. This will help reduce the anxiety they will feel when they get older. So when they go to a childcare center in Greenwood, Arkansas, they will be more excited than scared.
  • Do Not Sneak Off
It is common for parents to dash out of the room when their little one is not looking. This is to prevent them from following them or even crying. However, this is not a good practice. Doing this can actually damage the trust your little one has in you. Instead of sneaking out, you will want to have the caregiver grab the attention of the little one and make sure that your child is focused on them, while you say goodbye.
  • Have a Short Goodbye
Before you leave, it is important to have a short and sweet goodbye. It can be hard at times but a long goodbye can add to the separation anxiety. Also, if your child cries do not go back. Going back to them will only make things worse. When you drop them off at our day care center in Arkansas, just let them be.

Those are just a few of the many things that you will want to keep in mind when it comes down to reducing your child’s separation anxiety.
